Neon Vespers — Metal

Deep in Neon Canyon the walls close in and the light turns secondhand — reflected off sandstone on the far side, arriving as a deep, saturated red that paints the ceiling like the interior of a furnace. I shot this on large format film to hold every gradation: the crimson and violet layering across the sculpted rock above, and below it a pool so still and clear you could trace the moss on its floor, green and delicate, perfectly complementing the fire overhead. Worn holes in the rock above let water through in thin streams, feeding the pool in a slow drip that echoes off the walls. It felt less like a canyon and more like a nave, the stone vaulting upward, the water holding its own quiet vespers below.
